The Girls Soccer team (9-8-2) finished their season in a bittersweet way on Saturday night, falling to Park Tudor (14-2-3) 7-2 in the IHSAA Class 1A Regional #11 final.

The Lady Warriors had a strong game Saturday afternoon in the regional semifinal, defeating Southmont HS (6-11-2), the Sectional #41 champion, 5-1.  Juniors Alex David and Lizzy Midla each netted two goals, along with a goal from Senior Sydney Jones.  David, Midla, and Jones all scored early, as the Lady Warriors put up three goals in the first thirteen and half minutes of the match.  David added her second goal with 13 minutes remaining in the first half.  The Lady Mounties picked up their lone goal off a rebound on a breakaway midway through the second half, while Midla finished out the scoring with a shot into the upper right 90 off an assist from Senior Avery Price with 23:25 remaining in regulation.  CCHS put 19 shots on goal, and Sophomore goalkeeper Aliah Minaya made 8 saves in the win.

The regional final did not go as smoothly for CCHS, as Park Tudor, who defeated Union County HS 5-1 in their regional semifinal, scored early and often on breakaways set up on long balls and strong through passes.  Freshman Colina Miroff scored five times for the Lady Panthers, while Freshman Grace Whitacre picked up the other two PT goals.  Midla scored both of Covenant’s goal late in the game to complete the scoring.

Park Tudor will advance to face Evansville Mater Dei HS (14-4-1) in the South Semi-State game on Saturday.  2018 IHSAA Class 1A Girls Soccer State Tournament bracket.

The Lady Warriors finish the season with back-to-back sectional titles, the first time in program history, ranked #8 in the Indiana Soccer Coaches Association (ISCA) Class 1A state rankings.  Congratulations on a solid year.
